I've been there many times but yesterday had some of the worst service I've ever experienced in any restaurant. Extremely slow, dirty tables left uncleared, took forever to get coffee and even order. Food took an HOUR to arrive and when it finally came the order was wrong (they did remake the order). Staff was apologetic and explained that they had had a party of thirty that had just left, but no one seemed in a hurry and there was a lot of chatter between servers. Other customers were complaining as well. Manager did comp my meal, which was appreciated. This was not the first time I've experienced poor service there. I think the food is good, but they need to improve how they handle service.
If our food had not been served at a near-glacial pace, I would have been really impressed. The biscuit and gravy was delicious, French toast thick-cut and rich, and good coffee to boot. Just really regret coming here in any sort of hurry. It took over 50 minutes from the time we sat down to the time we had our food and we saw our server twice in that time.
Love the atmosphere though! Can’t say how consistently slow it is, but I’d be willing to give it another chance.
I ate here with some family from out of town, the atmosphere is amazing. Perfect family and friend place to go. The food was amazing, and well made. The banana foster good and bursting with flavor. Very fresh. Staff are friendly and up beat, always doing their best to make sure we had everything we needed to have a good breakfast.
My mother and I went here this morning to grab a bite to eat before her doctors appointment, we stood by the front door waiting to be acknowledged and sat. Silly me for thinking that someone would stop what they were doing to get a guest greated and seated as soon as they walked in. Once we were sat we waited for about 8 minutes before some one came to great us, I had to ask someone to get a server for us. A young lady came and took our order and let us know that our coffee and beignets would be on the house, this was appreciated, but didn't matter. We continued to wait for our food for another 17 minutes and it still never came. After being in this establishment for almost 45 minutes and have no food in front of us is not acceptable! We decided to leave and not continue to wait for horrible service.
I've never had a waiter sit down my table to get my order, but there's a first time for everything. To top it off, the waiter's clothes were dirty enough to ruin an appetite, like they hadn't been washed in a half dozen shifts. We were in the first wave of lunch customers on a Wednesday, and the kitchen stoves were not yet fired up, which resulted in the simple order of pancakes and grits taking a long time to arrive. The chocolate chip pancakes were out of the box pancakes with a small handful of chocolate chips placed on the surface of the topmost pancake. The staff were walking around with no purpose and we were approached an untold number of times by different (well meaning but untrained) staff to be asked the same set of questions about needing this and that and were thereby sapped of what little joy we could have gotten out of the experience. My grits were served scalding hot, which tells me they probably spent time in a microwave, but they were good grits. The price is $, which is appropriate for the fare, so that's a positive. Bottom line, try it as the food is well priced and good for a diner, but don't be surprised if you get frustrated by the overall experience. It may otherwise be good for breakfast or brunch, but for lunch the situation as described stands.
