Someone answered the phone in under a minute. Not sure if that's to be regularly expected or if I should play the lottery today.
No matter how many times the recording tells me that "My call is important to us" it obviously isn't. And if you try to call the department you need directly you get forwarded to... Durham One Call.
Worthless. Never get anything but the "All our representatives are busy" message and then I'm put on hold. I usually give up after 15 minutes. I've called in the mornings, evenings and in the afternoon - it's always the same. I've tried calling all week and I've never been able to talk to anyone.
I've called or emailed requests in several times and everything gets completed in a timely manner. It's a very straight forward process and when you call in, the representative is usually very helpful/nice. Definitely a good system for actually getting things done around the city.
One Call was a good idea, and its analog works well in NYC, but in Durham it actually makes it HARDER for citizens to contact their city government.
Horrible!! Worse than the DMV! On hold for 15 minutes just for someone to pick up and then put me back on hold again! Durham needs to do something about this!
Durham One Call is a serious joke!! The number of times you have to call to get someone to pickup is unacceptable. Whoever came up with this ideal should try calling this number to see the results. It's awful. Oh and if do by chance get someone to answer, try being transfer to the water department that's another joke, it take 20 minutes for someone to pickup there also.
