Please find another location to care for your loved ones. SOME of the staff could care less about the patients, and the CEO only wants your money.

The newspaper said, "An autopsy determined that he was already dead before he was burned. He was at the hospital after having heart surgery." (But the medical examiner released his body the very next morning. When did they do the autopsy?) And yes, he was there after heart surgery. However, that surgery was over 100 days prior. He couldn't go to a rehabilitation facility because he was unable to complete the required hours of physical therapy needed to be approved for a rehabilitation facility, results of a stoke while in heart surgery.

As far as I am concerned, the Select Specialty Clinic CEO, Duke (now Durham Medical) CEO, the Duke Fire Department, and the Medical Examiners were all tied up in the lies to the news reporters. I wish my family would gone to the news reporters when it happened. Because their stories to the news changed from what the Staff on duty told me the morning of the incident. The CEO wanted to sit down and explains some things with me, but by the time I called him back with an available time (since I didn't live in the city), he said that I had to go through their lawyer. I guess they lawyered up, and was told not to talk to me. Needless to say, I never heard from them again. Not even a letter of condolence from the CEO, the staff, nor lawyer.

Excellent staff ..... friendly and knowledgeable RNs .....

This facility gets a one star from me because that is the minimum that I can give. They are responsible for the death of my late husband. They were trying to use a defibrillator to correct an irregular heart beat (at least that is what they told me over the phone). But the very smart medical staff (NOT) wasn't smart enough to disconnect the oxygen, while using the defibrillator, which caused a fire. So they changed their story from trying to correct his irregular heartbeat, to he went into cardiac arrest. Oh...by they way, they did could not find his code chart to show his vitals, or prove that he was deceased before the fire. Newspaper- The Department of Labor fined Duke University Health System, which owns Durham Regional Hospital, $5,600. Subcontractor Select Specialty Hospitals that leases space to care for critically ill patients was fined $3,500. (By the way, Select Speciality Hospitals isn't a critical care facility).

It was ironic that after this incident they were looking for Registered Nurses, because they had none on duty that night.
