It is also difficult to maintain needed communication between the physician and the Assisted Living site. I have not found a consistently good means of doing this.
My mother is 97 and in assisted living. Doctors Making House Calls has been such a blessing. I don't know how we would have managed without them. Our Doctor leaves feedback, either personally or through his assistant, whenever he sees her. The office staff are responsive when I call, plus the Dr. sees her on a regular basis, due to age, pain and breathing. I couldn't ask for better.
It is very nice to have a doctor that comes to your home. My father is bedbound and I had no idea how I was going to take him to the doctor. Doctors Making Housecalls solved that. I am amazed that they come out. My father lives in a very rural area. They take time to talk to their patients and really figure out what is going on. I love these people. They are truly lifesavers.
Every physician and PA that I’ve dealt with from Doctors Making House Calls has been very professional and compassionate. My mother has lived in 2 facilities in the Memory Care units in each, and I have dealt with at least 4 doctors and 2 PAs from DMHC, and I have had the utmost confidence in every single one. They make themselves very accessible to me by meeting me in person at my request, and through phone calls and emails. This is wonderful, because their patient portal through their website is horrible. It is so user unfriendly that I stopped using it altogether. I keep suggesting that they change their system, but there does not seem to be any inclination to do this. Even one of their IT people agreed with me that it should be replaced. Patient portals are extremely helpful when they work well. The Duke Health Care’s patient portal system, for example, works beautifully.
Catherine Jones PA is outstanding. She gives me a weekly update of my family member and is truly interested in what is best treatment for her. Catherine will go beyond her required job responsibilities to make sure the patient feels good about the treatment and always follows up with family members to ensure that everyone is is informed and agrees. She is absolutely the best in her field.
I really enjoy and appreciate this service for the benefit of my family member. The biggest challenge has been some of the turnover in physicians.
