Knowledgeable and worked with my budget. They even tossed in a few free goodies (bottle, tire repair kit and bag, etc.) when I purchased.
I was far less than impressed when it came to this branch. I walked in with a bike that needed a simple tune up. The guy behind the counter was doing something on the register as I stood there for probably a minute/minute and a half. Not once did he say, "Just a second" or "Be right with you". I almost just turned around and walked out. Once he did give me the "Whaddya got", I was met with a "can't be bothered" attitude. Not once did he actually look at me...he was glancing everywhere else, but actually looking me in the eye. I'm pretty sure the mob wasn't going to bust down the door, so always looking for the closest exit really wasn't needed. Also, it's your store, you should already know these things.
The work that they did was good and the price was fair, hence the 2 Stars. I guess I don't have an expensive enough bike to really grab the guy's attention...or to have it available when he promised it would be available. I'm never going back.
My sons' bike chain needed to be replaced I had two friends attempt to repair the bike so my son could ride but neither could get it done. I took the bike to Bicycle chain and the Awesome gentle man said he can fix it. In less than 5 minutes the chain was fixed. The gentle man even walked me to my car and helped me to put the bike in. Greatest customer service. Thanks Mohawk man.
I've bought two bikes from here in the past. Nothing but positive experiences. I recently stopped in and had a wheel trued from a bike that I did NOT buy from them. The work was done on time, and done well. The mechanic was really friendly and enthusiastically helped me with advice on setting up tubeless tires. I didn't drop a bunch of dough this time in, but the service was affable just the same. I've been in and out of bike shops on the east coast for more than twenty years, and grew tired of the holier-than-thou attitude found in a lot of shops. I've found the Durham Bicycle Chain to be friendly and professional, everytime in. No pressure sales, and friendly mechanics. Ride on, and support your local shop.
The part that really bugged me, though was that he told me the bike would be ready the following Friday and that I would get a text to let me know when the work was done. I did get a text...at 7:02pm...the store closes on Fridays at 7pm.
Broke Gears and Brakes Back Too New (Price 98) !!! 4 Stars (Over Priced) I Could Have Purchased A New Bike, But Fixed Now
